Stepping up our #Paypinch campaign

Our Maybots have gone international.

Even America’s NBC News channel covered our latest stunt, where four of our Theresa Maybots were joined by a Gothic Chancellor in Westminster on the morning of the Budget.

You can see loads of pictures and videos clips of the day on our Facebook page, or by following #PayPinch on Twitter.

We had a lot of fun and made a lot of noise – but we were there to make a very serious point on behalf of our members and ALL public sector workers.

The Budget was the Chancellor’s chance to end seven years of misery for our 5.5 million public sector workers. Seven years where Public Sector Workers have had their real term pay slashed, leaving many to juggle more than one job and many to use food banks while struggling to pay the rent and feed their families.

But once again Philip Hammond lived down to our low expectations and the pay cap remains a living nightmare for our dedicated public sector workers.

For all the government claims to be lifting the pay cap, the small print of the Budget showed that pay awards are likely to be further delayed next year, potentially leaving millions of families out of pocket.

This is unacceptable and that's why the GMB is stepping up our #Paypinch campaign.

GMB demands that all public sector workers get a centrally funded real increase in their wage packets, now – not more empty words.

So what’s next for our public sector pay pinch campaign?

On Friday 8th December we’re organising a day of action for workers in local government.

GMB branches across the country have been lobbying their councils for support of the National Joint Consultative (NJC) Pay Claim which was submitted in June this year.

On Friday, we're doing a final push of lobbying to councils and councillors to get them to back a proper pay rise for local government workers.

What can you do? You can read the full pay claim and download your campaign pack resources on our dedicated Pay Pinch campaign website – www.paypinch.org/payclaim

Or share this post, and the below graphic, on social media to spread the word & build your strength in your workplace by asking a work colleague not in a union to join the GMB.
